Receives support to educate tomorrow's climate leaders

Kavlifondet is supporting Zeroakademiet with one million NOK to educate and foster dialogue with tomorrow’s climate leaders through the Zero Academy.
The Kavli Trust has awarded one million NOK to Miljøstiftelsen ZERo's programme Zeroakademiet, which educates and empowers young adult leaders working towards a zero-emission society.
Miljøstiftelsen ZERO is an independent, non-profit organisation that works for practical solutions to the climate crisis through zero-emission technologies and decisive action.
“The grant from Kavlifondet is crucial for enabling us to run two Zero Academies this year. In addition, the funding will support follow-up activities and events for the academy’s alumni. This type of support is important for ZERO in order to safeguard the academy’s independence,” says Cesilie Silvien, Project Manager at ZERO.
“Zeroakademiet plays an important role in bringing together and supporting climate-engaged young people from all parts of society. The goal is to provide them with the tools and support they need to take an active role in the transition to a zero-emission society,” Silvien adds.

An Academy with Strong Societal Impact
Miljøstiftelsen ZERO’s overarching objective is to contribute to concrete solutions that can form the basis for investments and initiatives in the business sector, as well as political decisions and policy instruments.
As part of this work, ZERO has, since 2013, educated young adult leaders aged 25–35 from politics, business, the public sector, civil society organisations, and academia through Zeroakademiet.
The programme combines theoretical insight with practical experience, and participants often go on to take on key societal roles where they apply their knowledge to create sustainable solutions.
With support from Kavlifondet, the academy will be expanded to new regions, providing even more young leaders with the opportunity to contribute to combating climate change.
“Zeroakademiet is an important initiative in Kavlifondet’s efforts to support effective solutions for climate and the environment,” says Ingrid Paasche, Managing Director of Kavlifondet.
“Through this initiative, we aim to strengthen dialogue and co-creation among young leaders who will be crucial to achieving the goal of a zero-emission society,” she adds.

Support for Continuation and Expansion
Support from Kavlifondet ensures that Zeroakademiet will be carried out in 2024 and during the programme periods 2024/2025 and 2025/2026.
The funding will also help expand the academy to new regions, enabling more young people to participate and work on regionally adapted responses to climate challenges. For the 2024/2025 programme period, these regions are Agder/Telemark and Eastern Norway.

A Future Without Emissions
Zeroakademiet provides participants with an analytical and practical approach to climate solutions. The programme is built on Miljøstiftelsen ZERO’s cross-sector collaboration with business, research, and politics, creating a strong foundation for participants to develop innovative solutions and drive the green transition.
Support for Zeroakademiet is part of Kavlifondet’s commitment to advancing effective solutions for climate and the environment.
“Kavlifondet aims to contribute to long-term initiatives addressing the challenges posed by the climate crisis and helping to create future-oriented solutions,” says Ingrid Paasche.
“By supporting Zeroakademiet, we are investing in tomorrow’s climate champions and sustainable innovators,” Paasche adds.
