NOKSince Aksjon Gjenvinning was first held in 2018, more than 100,000 students have participated in this educational and creative recycling competition. The school campaign takes place over three weeks each autumn, with themes such as recycling, circular economy, and reuse on the agenda. The goal is for students to learn about environmental protection in a simple and engaging way — and with great support from ambassador Dag Otto Lauritzen, they get to experience how recycled Kavli tubes and other metal packaging can be turned into brand-new bicycle frames.
During the 2023 campaign, more than 18,500 students sorted a total of 1,600 kilos of aluminium packaging. When the packaging is recycled, it becomes new and useful items, and the effort results in a CO₂ reduction equivalent to the annual emissions from six petrol cars.
Aksjon Gjenvinning is organized by Hydro, Norsk Metallgjenvinning, Forskerfabrikken, Kavli, and the Kavli Trust. The Kavli Trust has supported the implementation of the campaign since 2021 as part of its commitment to projects that promote good solutions for climate and the environment.
